FreeView shows web pages and files full screen, and it keeps what you open on your device. It has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. The only things that leave your device are presentations you choose to share as a link, and the anonymous record of a FreeView Pro purchase.
In short Your files and history never leave your device unless you share them. When you share a presentation, a copy of it goes to iCloud for as long as the link works, and anyone with the link can watch it. The only other thing that leaves your device is the anonymous record of a FreeView Pro purchase.
What FreeView stores on your device
History: the addresses, titles and dates of what you open, and any names you give them.
Files and presentations: PDFs, videos, photos, audio, documents and the slides you make are copied into FreeView's own storage, with pictures FreeView makes from them (pages of Keynote, PowerPoint or Word files, previews and edits).
Profile: the name, role, photo, logo and contact details you add in Settings, for your covers and slides, kept in a hidden folder beside your presentations. A presentation can have a presenter and a logo of its own, kept inside it. They appear only on slides where you turn them on.
Styles, settings and the kiosk PIN: your choices, saved styles, and the PIN as a salted hash in the Keychain.
Web data: cookies, site storage and cache, kept by Apple's WebKit as in Safari. Private browsing keeps none of it once a page closes.
None of this is sent to us unless you share a presentation. It may be included in your device's own iCloud or computer backup, under Apple's terms.
Shared presentations
When you use Share Presentation, FreeView uploads a copy of that presentation so it can be watched in a browser at freeview.app:
What's uploaded: the presentation's title, your optional message, its slides as web-ready files (photos, PDF and document pages as pictures, videos, audio, 3D models, animations, tables), the text of your covers and text slides, the web addresses of websites you put on a slide, any files you attach to a slide for download (as they are, under their own names), only the profile details you chose to show on them (for example your name, photo, logo, email, phone, website or social profiles), and, if you include it, your commentary: the video and voice you recorded over the slides, with where each slide comes in.
Where: the public database of FreeView's iCloud container (iCloud.com.fbmore.freeview), run by Apple. Each link has a long random address; there is no list or search of shared presentations, so it can only be found by someone you give the link to.
Who can see it: anyone who has the link, without signing in. Link previews in apps like Messages show its title, message and cover picture.
How long: until the link ends (after the time you choose) or you stop sharing it in the Shared Links tab. Ended links stop working right away, and their copies are deleted from iCloud within a day.
Views: each opening of a link adds one to a count for that link, and each slide shown adds one to a count for that slide, so you can see how often it was watched and which slides were seen; a link with a commentary also counts how often the commentary was started and played to the end. The counts are just numbers per link and per slide, kept on Cloudflare; no IP address, cookie or device detail is stored.
Viewer libraries: the web viewer loads open-source code (for Markdown, tables, Lottie animations, 3D models and QR codes) from cdnjs and jsDelivr, which, like any website, see the viewer's IP address when serving it.
Share only what you have the right to share: anyone with the link can view and save what they see.
Camera, microphone, photos and files
The camera is used only when you take a photo or video, scan a document, or record a commentary (you on camera, talking over your slides); the microphone only when you record audio, a video's sound or a commentary. A commentary is kept with its presentation on your device. Save as Video adds a commentary to your Photos library only when you choose to. FreeView uses the system pickers for Photos and Files, so it only sees the items you choose. What you capture or pick stays on your device unless you share it.
Screen recording and screenshots (Mac)
Record Screen records only the display or window you choose in macOS's own picker, with the camera, the microphone and the Mac's sound if you turn them on. Take Screenshot captures only the area you select; it needs macOS's Screen Recording permission, which you grant once in System Settings (with it, Record Screen can also list your displays and windows to choose from). Recordings and screenshots become slides in your presentations and stay on that Mac unless you share them. FreeView's keyboard shortcuts react only to their own key combinations; FreeView doesn't see anything else you type.
Reimagine
On devices with Apple Intelligence, Reimagine uses Apple's Image Playground to make a new picture from a photo. Apple processes it on your device or with Private Cloud Compute, under Apple's privacy terms; FreeView sends nothing to us.
Shortcuts, Siri and Spotlight
FreeView offers actions to the Shortcuts app and Siri (open a presentation, next and previous slide, create a presentation or a link, and on a Mac start and stop a screen recording). To do that it gives Apple's frameworks on your device the titles, dates, covers and link addresses of your presentations and what the viewer is showing. This stays on your device under Apple's terms; nothing is sent to us. Nothing is listed while FreeView is locked with Face ID.
Face ID and Touch ID
Used only if you turn on Lock with Face ID, to unlock FreeView. Your device handles it entirely; FreeView never receives face or fingerprint data.
Purchases
FreeView Pro is sold through the App Store. To unlock and restore it, FreeView uses RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app user identifier and your App Store receipt (what you bought and when). It does not receive your name, email or Apple Account details. Payments are handled by Apple.

No crash reports sent to us
Websites you visit

FreeView is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Deleting your data
On your device: swipe an item in Recent to remove it, use Clear History in Settings, clear your profile in Settings → Profile and Contacts, or delete the app.
Shared links: in the Shared Links tab, a link's … menu → Stop Sharing deletes a link's copies from iCloud. Links you don't stop are deleted automatically after they end. Deleting the app doesn't stop links that are still running, so stop them first; or write to us with the link and we'll remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it, and the new version appears here.
